Many parents would do anything for their children, including this Chinese parent who risked his life to save his daughter from a house fire.
In the viral footage, a mother and father can be seen crouching over their four-year-old daughter while trapped inside a burning house in Guangzhou’s Liwan district.
At around 3:00 pm on June 19, a fire broke out in their fifth floor apartment, sending the family to their window where they were trapped.
A family relative, identified only as Mr. Zhang, said he rushed to the building when he saw the fire.
However, he did not dare to go into the apartment when the fire broke out and it became dangerous.Then the fire department was called.
The Guangzhou Fire Department later put out the fire with water hoses.16 fire engines and 99 firefighters were dispatched to the burning home and a large ladder was used to rescue the trapped family.
Unfortunately, the mother didn’t make it as she was already burned to death when the fire brigade arrived at the family home. The father was able to escape from the fire, but his condition is said to be critical.
Her four-year-old daughter suffered serious head injuries. According to her relative and neighbor Mr. Shen, the girl is the youngest of her three siblings. Her older siblings were not home at the time of the fire.
The Guangzhou Fire Brigade later announced that the fire started on the top floor of the six-story low-rise concrete and steel building.
The fire is currently under investigation, but the cause of the fire is not yet known.
